How to Stay Young

1. Try everything twice...loved it both times!

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down. (Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches.)

3. Keep learning: Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain get idle. "An idle mind is the devil's workshop."

4. Enjoy the simple things. Pray for everyone you know, and yourself.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath. And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER. Thank God for them.

6. The tears happen: Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life, is God. LIVE while you are alive, walk with Him.

7. Surround yourself with what you love: Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge. Be grateful for what God has given you.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help. Pray for God's healing.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county, to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is. God does not want you to be burdened with guilt.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

11. Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second time.

Do share this with someone.

Importance of having Breakfast

Breakfast can help prevent strokes, heart attack and sudden death. Advice on not to skip breakfast!

Tips for healthy living...

For those who always skip breakfast, you should start kicking that habit now!! You've heard many times that "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day." Now, recent research confirms that one of the worst practices you can develop may be avoiding breakfast.

Why? Because the frequency of heart attack, sudden death, and stroke peaks between 6:00a.m and noon, with the highest incidence being between 8: 00a.m. and 10:00a.m. What mechanism within the body could account for this significant jump in sudden death in the early morning hours?

We may have an answer

Platelet, tiny elements in the blood that keep us from bleeding to Death if we get a cut, can clump together inside our arteries due to cholesterol or plaque buildup in the artery lining. It is in the morning hours that platelets become the most activated and tend to form these internal blood clots at the greatest frequency.

However, eating even a very li ght breakfast prevents the morning platelet activation that is associated with heart attacks and strokes Studies performed at Memorial University in St.Johns, Newfoundland found that eating a light, very low-fat breakfast was critical in modifying the morning platelet activation. Subjects in the study consumed either low-fat or fat-free yogurt, orange juice, fruit, and a source of protein coming from yogurt or fat-free milk.

So if you skip breakfast, it's important that you change this practice immediately in light of this research. Develop a simple plan to eat cereal, such as oatmeal or Bran Flakes ,along with six ounces of grape juice or orange juice , and perhaps a piece of fruit .

This simple plan will keep your platelets from sticking together, keep blood clots from forming, and perhaps head off a potential heart attack or stroke.

So never ever skip breakfast.

Who likes mosquitoes?

So you don't like those pesky mosquitoes.
Here's a tip that was given at a recent gardening forum.
Put some water in a white dinner plate and add a couple drops of lemon flavor of dish washing liquid. Set the dish on your porch, patio, picnic table, park bench, or other outdoor area.
Not sure what attracts them, the lemon smell, the white plate color, or what, BUT ... mosquitoes flock to it, and drop dead shortly after drinking the Lemon Fresh dish washing liquid & water mixture, and usually within about 10 feet of the plate.
TRY IT --- it works just super! It may seem trivial, but it may also help to control mosquitoes around your home, (especially in areas where the dengue and malaria carrying mosquitoes are reaching epidemic proportions).
Pass this on to anyone who likes sitting out in the evening, or when they're having a cook out.

It's safer than mosquito coils - no offensive odor and harmful fumes, no risk of fire.

Tips on how to identify a Stroke Victim

Stroke or sometimes called a “Brain attack” lives among us, it’s like a thief in the night that no one ever knows when and where it will strike. Unless we are equipped with the proper knowledge to detect the symptoms we cannot foresee when it is coming and what to do in case of emergency.
Stroke Identification
During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm, Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead...
